At the institution of the Lord's Supper, Jesus had spoken these words, "For this is My blood of the new testament which is shed for many, for the remission of sins" (Matt. 26:28). He could speak of His blood as already shed, for He is the foreordained "Lamb slain before the foundation of the world."
