When the apostle Paul preached the true God to the idol worshipping Romans of old, he stood upon a prominence known as Mars Hill, named after the Roman god of war, from which our current month also derives its name. To the Romans, Mars was more than a mere fighter; they regarded him as a god who could do almost anything because he was so strong.
