The Papacy

Who is the head of the church, Jesus Christ or the Pope? In our controversy with Rome over their doctrine of the Papacy, this is the fundamental issue at stake. Our Reformed forefathers recognized this, and it is on this point that the Westminster Confession of Faith makes its damning condemnation of the Pope, when it states in chapter 25, paragraph VI: "There is no other head of the Church but the Lord Jesus Christ: nor can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof; but is that Antichrist,...
