Utterly amazing was that first announcement: “Christ is Risen”. No one expected it. True it is that Jesus has plainly spoken to His disciples of the fact that He would be delivered into the hands of sinners to be crucified, that He would die and that He would arise again on the third day. But they were still such “fools and slow of heart to understand” since they still anticipated an earthly kingdom which He would establish. But He had died.
