Apostolic Gifts
Rev. Ronald Hanko argues that apostolic gifts such as tongues, miracles, and healings ceased with the apostles and the completion of the biblical canon, rejecting their continuation in the modern church. Drawing on Scripture and the Westminster Confession, he contends that seeking these gifts today denies the sufficiency of Scripture and potentially invites deception by demonic spirits rather than the Holy Spirit.
Apostolic gifts include such things as tongue speaking, miracles, and healings (those who promote the so called “Toronto Blessing” even claim apostolic authority for such aberrations as holy laughter and being slain in the Spirit). Should we expect and pray for a manifestation of such gifts today?
