This article examines Genesis 3:15 (the Protevangelion) as the foundational gospel promise given to Adam and Eve after the Fall, demonstrating how their awareness of their corrupted natures and need for covering prefigures Christ's redemptive work. Doezema argues that the entire gospel—including perpetual spiritual warfare and Christ's ultimate victory—is contained in embryonic form in this "mother promise," showing how God's plan of salvation in Christ was present from the beginning of human history.
