It is surprising that a battle between two barbarian tribes played an important role in the history of Christianity. The battle in question was between the Franks and the Alemanni in the year 496. This fight was important because when the Frankish leader, Clovis I saw that his army was in difficult straits he vowed to convert to Christianity if he was victorious.
