In this article, Prof. Ronald Cammenga defends the Protestant Reformed position against charges of antinomianism by demonstrating that Calvin taught God's forgiveness of sins follows and depends upon the sinner's repentance, not preceding it eternally. Through careful analysis of Calvin's Institutes, commentaries, and prayers, Cammenga argues that the Reformed Protestant Churches' doctrine of forgiveness before repentance contradicts both Calvin's theology and historical Reformed teaching on the proper order of justification and sanctification.
