This editorial by Cory Griess addresses the PRCA Synod 2024's examination of two disputed statements concerning the relationship between good works and salvation, specifically distinguishing between the legal right to salvation through Christ's obedience and the possession of salvation as it relates to Spirit-wrought works in believers. Drawing on seventeenth-century Dutch theologian Herman Witsius, Griess clarifies how sanctification and good works contribute to the believer's final salvation in glory while maintaining the priority of justification through Christ alone. This piece represents the denomination's careful doctrinal discernment through its synodical process.
