This article is the sixth installment in Cory Griess's series examining the instrumental cause of salvation, demonstrating how the Protestant Reformed Church's synods have steered the denomination away from two doctrinal errors: making works part of salvation's instrumental cause alongside faith, and denying the proper order of sequence in God's application of Christ's benefits. The article defends the PRC's synodical decisions regarding the relationship between human activity and divine blessing in salvation, particularly addressing concerns that preaching about preceding human activities necessarily undermines the gratuity of God's grace.
