This article expounds on Christ's Melchizedekian priesthood as presented in Hebrews 7, demonstrating the superiority and finality of Christ's priestly office. The author refutes three false doctrines (Roman Catholic mass theology, Christian Reconstructionism, and premillennialism) by showing how Hebrews 7 establishes Christ as the unique, eternal priest after the order of Melchizedek, whose priesthood supersedes all Old Testament types and shadows.
Christ’s Melchizedekian Priesthood (1) Melchizedek is a mysterious figure in the Old Testament. He pops up in the life of Abraham and then he is not mentioned until one of the Psalms some 1,000 years later. Moses gives him three verses (Gen. 14:18-20) and David only one verse (Ps. 110:4).
