Rev. Herman Veldman was a son of Jacob and Evelyn Veldman. The latter was a sister of the late Rev. Herman Hoeksema Herman was born to them on April 22, 1908 on Chicago's west side. He was next to the youngest in a family of seven children, having five sisters and one brother, the late Rev. Richard Veldman.
